ICO/Novartis Eye research Bursary 2017 - Application Process

The Irish College of Ophthalmologists (ICO) is delighted to announce the details of the ICO/Novartis Eye Research Bursary for 2017. Now in its 6th consecutive year, the annual bursary is an unrestricted educational grant awarded to a doctor who wishes to undertake a research project or specific training in the field of ophthalmology.

The bursary has been instrumental in facilitating eye doctors in Ireland to undertake pioneering research into potential cures and treatments for sight-threatening conditions.  

ICO/Novartis Eye Research Bursary 2017 – Application Process

The ICO is inviting interested medical practitioners to submit their applications to the College by Monday 4th September, 2017.  The winner will be announced at the Annual Adare Retina Meeting on Thursday, 28th September 2017.  

The applicant should include the following in their entry submission:

·         A detailed outline of your research project or specific training, including how this will impact patient care and outcomes in Ireland

·         Evidence of support from a senior ophthalmologist as sponsor  

·         Breakdown of costs

The prize is not restricted to eye doctors in training and those in practice are encouraged to consider making a suitable application.
