The annual lecture honours our esteemed colleague, the late Professor Peter Barry, whose contribution to ophthalmology here in Ireland and abroad was immense. 

Prof Barry was an especially wonderful mentor to young ophthalmologists and this lecture is a tribute to his legacy within the specialty.
