AMD Awareness Week 2017

25 September 2017 - 30 September 2017

PUBLIC URGED TO ‘SEE THE WHOLE PICTURE’ DURING AMD AWARENESS WEEK

Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of sight loss in Ireland,  The condition affects the macula at the back of the eye, which is responsible for central vision and allows you to see detail.

The Irish College of Ophthalmologists, along with other eye health and patient advocacy groups, are working together to help raise awareness of AMD during the campaign week and to remind the public of the importance of regular eye tests as early diagnosis can result in the effective treatment of AMD and prevention of sight loss,

If you have any concerns about your eye health or notice a change in your vision, it is important to see your GP or make an appointment with an eye doctor.
